Optional Tours

The following tours have been specifically designed for our participants and the rates are based on a minimum of 7 people. Should there be fewer people, we may still operate the tour, but at a higher cost. On the other hand, we will reduce rates if there are more than 15 people per tour.

TOUR A – NAGARKOT SUNRISE
WITH OVERNIGHT, EASY WALKING

Low Level Fitness - mainly downhill

 

MONDAY, SEPTEMBER 16, 2024

Fly in to Tribhuvan International Airport. Take a cab for the hour drive to the Country Villa hotel in Nagarkot for dinner and overnight.

Nagarkot is known for its unforgettable views of sunrises and sunsets over the Himalayas as well as other peaks of this mountain range just east of Nepal.  The surrounding scrubland is home to many butterflies. 

 

TUESDAY, SEPTEMBER 17, 2024

Following breakfast, check out of hotel. Load the vehicles with your luggage and then commence a light hike to the Changu Narayan Temple, one of the oldest temples in Nepal with it beautiful and intricated carvings of animals guarding the temple's entrances. This historic site is a treasure trove of cultural and religious signific for both Buddists and Hindus. Continue with the hike through this countryside on single tracks, descending to the ancient temple city of Bhaktapur on the eastern corner of the Kathmandu Valley.  Bhaktapur is one of the smallest cities in Nepal and the most densely populated. Lunch will be enjoyed in this ancient city. Time for exploring the area best known for handcrafts and pottery will be taken during this stop.  Because of the well preserved medieval nature, UNESCO inscribed Bhaktapur as a World Heritage site.

Late afternoon transfer to the Yak & Yeti Hotel.

TOUR B – SHIVAPURI HIKE AND BIKE TOUR,
FULL DAY

Intermediate Level of Fitness

TUESDAY, SEPTEMBER 17, 2024

Meet in the lobby of the Yak & Yeti hotel and travel for about an hour to Kakani, a scenic hill station with is mesmerizing view of the beautifully snow capped mountain peaks.  A quick stop to enjoy local tea is taken here, before beginning the hike through a dense jungle for approximately 6.5 km. Along the way, pass through a few of the villages giving one an idea of the lifestyle of these villagers living near Kathmandu.  Continue by foot to Gurje Bhanjyang - a scenic viewpoint offering a magnificent closeup view of the Himalayas.  A picnic lunch is taken at this site. After lunch continue with a bike ride - 7 km of flat and easy tracks with a few sharp climbs.  Upon reaching a small waterfall that flows through the jungle, your descent of around 6 km begins to the exit gate of the national park - return to the Yak & Yeti hotel.

TOUR C – BIKE & LEARN, NEPALESE DWELLINGS
AND DURBA SQUARE MORNING TOUR

WEDNESDAY, SEPTEMBER 18, 2024

Early morning meet in the lobby of the Yak & Yeti hotel for a pre-ride briefing and basic bike handling session. Begin the tour by riding through the streets of the city, exploring ancient alleyways and riverside dwellings. There is a significant contrast between the 2 main streets to that of the older narrow alleyways and brick houses with its carved doors and windows. Continue to the Lalitpur Pump Track which is 170 m, the first of its kind to be built in Nepal.  Meet local children and riders with their skateboards and bikes.  A fun skill lesson will be given at this track. Before returning to the hotel enjoy a local breakfast at the Durba Square - A UNESCO World Heritage site, and important site for holy ceremonies for Buddhists and Hindus.  Return to the Yak & Yeti hotel.

TOUR D – PATAN HALF DAY WALKING TOUR

WEDNESDAY, SEPTEMBER 18, 2024

Patan was once one of three kingdoms within the Kathmandu Valley,  and the Druba Sq here is probably the most interesting of the three. The small streets around the square are dotted with hidden temples and monasteries. Another wonderful feature of this area is that people actually live and work here so there are many hidden markets and surprises along the way. Patan is also the traditional home to Newa people which means it has many secret spots to sample the local food! This walking tour explores all the above mentioned. We drive from the Hotel to Patan Dhorka and begin our 3 hour exploration of the area delving into the rich culture of this ancient part of the city.

TOUR E – NAGARJUN
HIKE & BIKE DAY/HIKE & RIDE

High Level of Fitness - All uphill hiking

SUNDAY, SEPTEMBER 22, 2024

Depart the Yak & Yeti hotel and travel to Nagarjun, a national park close to Kathmandu; known to be one of the best hiking destinations with its stunning greenery . Enjoy an uphill hike of 5 km through this lush jungle and reach the Jamacho monastery - perched on a hill with breathtaking views of the Kathmandu valley and stunning Himalayan backdrop. This is known to be one of the more popular pilgrimage sites for Buddhists and Hindus  Upon reaching this peak, take in the magnificent views of the Himalaya. A picnic lunch is provided on this tour. After lunch, a 14 km bike ride downhill begins on a very gentle track through this lush jungle. There is the option of driving down instead of taking bicycles. This peaceful area with its natural beauty is home to many birds and animals. At the end of the ride, return to the hotel - time to shower and change, before continuing to Nepali Chulo to have a traditional meal including a cultural dance program.

TOUR F - POONHILL TREK TOUR

6 day/5 night Tour

SUNDAY, SEPTEMBER 22 

Fly to Pokhara and Drive to Nayapul, Trek to Ulleri (1960m) 9km of Trekking

After breakfast in the Hotel, we transfer to the airport for the 25 min flight to Pokhara along the Himalayas. Our transport awaits us there and we drive 1 to 1.5 hours to Nayapul. 

Here we meet our trekking team and begin our trek. Today we begin by following the river to the forest and start by climbing. We take it at a nice and steady pace. 

The trek today is mostly uphill but enjoyable. 

Dinner & Overnight: Teahouse

MONDAY, SEPTEMBER 23 

Trek to Ghorepani (2874m)  Trekking Distance 10.30km

From Ulleri, we continue to head uphill, on steps through the forest and upwards towards the lovely Village of Ghorepani. You can take some rest in the teahouse and enjoy views of the mountains. 

It's a bit tough today, but you can take plenty of rest on the way.

TUESDAY, SEPTEMBER 24

Trek to Poonhill Summit (3210m) and Tadapani (2540m) 10km of Trekking.

Before sunrise, the guide will wake you for the 1.5 hour hike to the summit of Poonhill. As you reach the top, you will be treated with stunning views of the Annapurna and Nilgiri 

ranges of mountains. This is a breathtaking moment. After sunrise, head back down to Ghorepani for a well earned breakfast.

Followng breakfast and some rest we trek onwards through the thick forest to Tadapani where we will stay the night.

WEDNESDAY, SEPTEMBER 25

Trek to Ghandruk and Drive to Pokhara

Following the flat and jungle trails, you walk for around 5 hours to get the first view of Ghandruk village. This is a very traditional Village which hosts a museum 

of the Gurung People. We can have lunch here and then trek out of the village a short way to the road head from where we can get a jeep for the scenic 2 hour drive 

back to Pokhara. On arrival in Lakeside check into our hotel.

THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 26

Rest Day in Pokhara

Pokhara is a beautiful lakeside town nestled at the base of the Annapurna Himalayas. You can spend your day hanging out here or join in one of the 

many adventure activities on offer

  • ATV Riding

  • Mountain Biking around the Lake

  • ½ Rafting on the Seti River (Seasonal)

  • Paragliding (Seasonal)

  • Zipline or Bungy. 

 

There is no shortage of fun to be had in Pokhara.

FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 27

Pokhara to Kathmandu by Flight 

We depart Pokhara and fly to Kathmandu. Transfer from the airport back to your hotel.

Rate: US$895 p/person sharing a room.

Supplement of US$85 for a single room
